    The Canadian prairies finest, extremely clean and heavy clipped oats (38 lb to 44 lb oats compared to 28 lb to 32 lb oats) rich in poly unsaturated fats, primarily linoleic acid.

It is difficult for those feeding hard-working, lactating and growing horses to supply sufficient nutrients in hay alone to meet the horse’s energy and protein needs.

Oats and hay are often sufficient for adult horses, but are too low in protein and other nutrients for active horses, brood mares and growing horses.

On  a natural environment, horses spend most of their day grazing, slowly taking in the nutrients they require.  However, in confinement, we take away the ability to choose their feed, supplying feed that is convenient to us - hay and concentrate, over-processed and pelleted.

Horses have the capability to utilize cellulose and hemicellulose from feed.  If they are fed too much concentrate or if feed is processed too extensively (i.e. made very digestible by cracking, extruding and grinding) the fermentation, digestion and absorption can happen too rapidly and can lead to conditions such as colic, Azoturia or laminitis.  Genesis™ organic horse feed is as close to a  natural product to which horses digestive system evolved to intake the required nutrients, in addition to roughage, for a balanced diet.

Many people try to improve ration for animals by fertilizing crops, processing grains, and using feed additives.  If you could feed your broodmares, foals, mature horses, jumpers, etc. using untreated, pesticide and chemical fertilizer free feed, wouldn't you?  We use organically grown feed ingredients that have high quality carbohydrates, oil and protein to produce a product with appropriate energy and fat levels with a well-balanced protein base.

I was introduced to Genesis through Dr. Robert Folkard, who had done extensive research and started feeding Genesis to his own horses.  I could see he was very pleased with what he was witnessing taking place in his horses.

I've successfully barrel raced for 41 years and always tried to be aware of what we fed our horses.  At this point I was sitting in second in the Ontario standings, and it was just 3 weeks till our finals.  I was somewhat apprehensive to try a new feed with show season so near to an end.  I told no one that I was going to switch to Genesis but my husband and Debbie Folkard, Dr. Folkard's wife, as she was my secret source.  If there was going to be a change in my mares performance I wanted a bias opinion.

In the following three weeks I realized, she was not as high strung entering the ring, times were becoming much faster, complete attitude change at shows and home, but best of all eating her grain at shows, (this she rarely did).

I was asked a multitude of times what I had given her and what changes I had done to as others noticed the changes in her.

I'm into my fourth month Feb. 2009, feeding Genesis and I have noticed she has much more muscle tone and her hooves are in the best condition ever.  Never could I let her go barefoot, as she had very shaley hooves and always broke up.  Has not had shoes on for three months and not a crack or default in her feet.

"Bet On The Bug". will be 14 years old this year and can't wait for show season.  We have been feeding our other four horses Genesis through the winter as well, they all look great, ages 29, 23, 7 & 6.
